We got permission to leave our RV a little longer at the campsite in Slidell so we could spend the morning in New Orleans. We had breakfast at a restaurant that LaMar's brother Scott recommended and then did a little shopping. The girls each got t-shirts, and Carter bought himself a funky hat.
I was really excited to go back to New Orleans, since I enjoyed it so much 20+ years ago when I earned a free trip there through Pampered Chef. But it just wasn't the way I remembered. I was a lot younger then, and better able to walk around, and it was January, not August, so the heat wasn't an issue. And, of course, things weren't all shut down because of Corona virus. I remember just loving the French Quarter, with all the music and the different foods and Cajun/Creole culture. But today it was just hot, dirty, and boring. The French Market was completely closed, there was no one playing jazz on the streets, and even the architecture didn't look as pretty as I remembered.
I was really excited for everyone to try beignets at Cafe due Monde, but when we went to get some, they would only accept cash. I didn't have any cash with me, so no one got to try them. 😟
All in all, we had a good time, it just wasn't how I remembered. I certainly liked Natchitoches better.
I had to get payroll done for the vet clinic when we got back to the RV, and my computer gave me some major grief, so we didn't really get on the road to Florida until about 3:00 pm. It was a pretty drive through the southern part of Mississippi and Alabama, but I slept for a large portion of the trip, so there was a lot I didn't see. I remember passing Gulfport and Biloxi, and I vaguely remember the GPS saying, "Welcome to Alabama," but that's all I remember until I woke up to the OCEAN!!! 😁😁😁
We are staying in a little city called Navarre, Florida tonight, and our RV park is right by the beach. As soon as we arrived, we went down on the dock to watch the sun set.
It was so nice to feel the cool ocean breeze!
We are going to try to get some laundry done tonight, spend the morning at the beach tomorrow, and then make the final leg of our outbound trip to Athens, Georgia. Never thought I would say this, but I am looking forward to the cooler temperatures of Georgia! (Such a confusing sentence!)

Luv the hat, Carter. The next time you come to visit, you must bring it with you. I have to see it up close and personal.
