We had the best afternoon in Santa Fe! We went to a little patio eatery called Caffe Greco where we had some authentic New Mexican food (lots of green chilies) and the best horchata I have ever had. Garrett was in seventh heaven! He absolutely loved the food. Even Carter (who made a face when I told him he had to try the green chilies) ended up really liking it.
The owner of the cafe was from New York, with an authentic New York accent. I joked afterwards that we should have asked if his name was Jack Kelly (the main character from the musical Newsies, who lived in New York but wanted to go to Santa Fe). He was playing the keyboard on the patio and stopped frequently to talk and joke with us.
After our delicious lunch, we strolled a bit down Canyon Road, which is renowned for all the art galleries on it. We saw some pretty awesome art, and I got my picture taken with Mark Twain! Now we are back on the road for four more hours, heading for Amarillo, Texas, where we will stop for the night.
More to come!
